Welcome to the Wisconsin School Social Workers Association! WSSWA is a 501(c)(6) non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement and betterment of school social work practice in the state of Wisconsin. We are a professional association that welcomes practicing school social workers, retirees, social work students, and those in associated fields to join us in our mission of promoting and improving school social work practice. WSSWA has been supporting professionals in the state of Wisconsin for almost 50 years, and are proud to be members of the Midwest Council of School Social Workers. We are also an Affiliated Association of the School Social Workers Association of America (SSWAA.)
The purpose of the Wisconsin School Social Workers Association is to promote the total growth and development of all school-aged children and their families through the application of social work knowledge and skills. The functions of WSSWA are:

To promote sound professional practice among school social workers in Wisconsin.

To stimulate the development and more effective use of school social work services in Wisconsin.

To encourage and enable the educational and professional growth of social workers in Wisconsin schools.

To study, recommend and/or support legislation, public school policies, and standards pertinent to the needs of children and the profession of school social work.

To maintain liaison relationships with state and national associations, organizations and educational institutions whose purpose includes the education and development of children.

To support efforts to grow the profession by attracting, preparing, and retaining high quality school social workers in Wisconsin schools.
